学院坐落于杭州西郊全国优秀旅游城市临安市区,校园占地面积468亩,校舍建筑面积14万平方米。拥有教学大楼、实验大楼、图书馆、学生活动中心、塑胶运动场等基础设施和3000多万教学仪器设备。校园内古木参天,绿草如茵,环境优美,被评为“全国绿化模范单位”、“浙江省文明校园”、“平安校园”,是学习、读书的理想场所。
按照教育部“依托母体,相对独立、规范管理”的办学原则,实行董事会领导下的院长负责制。学院下设办公室、教务部、学工部、财务部四个职能部门和生物环境系、工程技术系、园林艺术系、经济管理系、人文系、公共基础课教学部和实验教学中心七个教学单位。
学院依托浙江农林大学的综合办学优势,根据浙江省经济建设和社会发展的需求设置专业,现有29个本科专业,6个专业方向。学院立足浙江,面向全国7个省(市、自治区)招生,现有在校生6500名。
学院继承和发扬浙江农林大学的优良传统,按照“以生为本、求真敬业、和谐天目”的办学理念,培养知识、能力、素质协调发展的本科应用型人才。实施“按类招生、专业培养”和“平台加模块”的人才培养模式,实行学分制和弹性学制,基本学制为4年,弹性学习期限为3-6年。在学院规定的学习期限内达到最低毕业学分要求,并经考核合格,颁发浙江农林大学天目学院的毕业证书;从2012年开始,符合学位授予条件的毕业生授予浙江农林大学天目学院学士学位。
学院已建成一支德才兼备、专兼职相结合、学历职称结构合理的师资队伍。现有专兼职教师400余人,学院专职专任教师180人。在专职专任教师中,具有硕士以上学历的达到82%,高级职称占32%;浙江省高等学校教学名师1人,浙江省“151人才”2人。
学院以教学质量为核心,注重学生实践和创新能力的培养。围绕人才培养目标,不断完善人才培养方案,加强教育教学改革,创设“创新实践类”学分,增强学生的实践和创新能力。目前主持省级“教学质量与教学改革工程”项目10项,工商管理专业为省级重点建设专业,《环境法》为省级精品课程建设项目,《生物化学》和《世界贸易组织法教程》为省级重点教材建设项目,计算机实验教学中心为浙江省独立学院首批基础课实验教学示范中心建设项目。近几年来,有264人次的学生在省部级以上学科竞赛中获得105个奖项,其中国际金奖1项、国际二等奖2项、国家级奖项9项。学生的毕业率、学位率、就业率一直保持在97%、95%、90%以上,毕业生深受社会各界的欢迎。

Tianmu
College of Zhejiang Agriculture and Forestry University(ZAFU), sponsored
jointly by ZAFU and Wuyue Educational Development co. LTD., was established
in 2000 under the permission of Zhejiang provincial government. It
was an independent college offering full-time undergraduate education
confirmed by Ministry of Education.
Located in Lin’an City (west of the popular tourist destination
Hangzhou), the college has a campus covering nearly 468 mus with 140,000
square meters of building space. With its teaching building, experimental
building, library, students’ centre and playground, the modern
buildings and facilities in a setting of great natural beauty, surrounded
by mountains and waters, making it a most suitable place for learning,
teaching, and conducting research. It is regarded as an ideal academic
place and elected as provincial “Campus of Civilization”,
“Campus of Safety” and “national model of green
campus”.
Carrying out the policy of “Relying on ZAFU, pursuing a relatively
independent and standardized administration” by the Ministry
of Education, the college implements a running responsibility system
of college president led by the Board and includes 4 functional departments(the
college office, department of students’ affairs, teaching affairs,
finance) and 7 teaching departments(the department of biology and
environment, engineering, humanities, economic management and landscape
gardening and architecture,basic courses, respectively).
In accordance with the requirement of social and economic development
of Zhejiang Province, the college offers 29 undergraduate majors and
6 training directions. Based itself on Zhejiang, the college also
enrolls students from 7 other provinces. At present, it has more than
6500 full-time students.
The college, inheriting and carrying forward ZAFU's fine traditions,
follows the theory of “being students-oriented and building
a harmonious college with truth-seeking attitudes” so as to
foster the knowledgeable, competent, versatile and applicable talents.
It adopts the talents training model of “Categorizing Enrollment,
Categorizing Training” and“Platform plus Module”
and practices credit system and elastic term of learning in which
the basic college system is 4 years while the elastic one ranges from
3 to 6 years. The college issues diplomas to students who obtain required
credits and conditions for graduation and the Bachelor’s Degree
Certificate of Tianmu College of ZAFU to students who meet the requirements
from 2012.
The college has established a well structured teaching staff who combines
professional competence and political integrity, works both part-time
or full-time and has sound academic backgrounds and titles. Among
its 400 staff, 180 are full time teachers, masters add up to 82% and
32% have their advanced academic titles; one was honored as the outstanding
college teacher of Zhejiang Colleges and Universities;2 has been elected
into the provincial talent pool.
Focusing on improving educational quality, the college lays great
emphasis on students’ practical abilities and creativities.
Thus, to achieve its training target, it spares no effort to perfects
its teaching plan and enhances its educational reforms and sets up
“practical and creative” credit system. Up to now, there
are 10 provincial projects directed by teachers in the college involving
educational quality and reforms; the major of business management
was elected as a provincial key constructive major; the environmental
law was elected as a provincial excellent course; two course books,
the Biology Chemistry and the Law of World Trade Organization were
elected to be the provincial key constructive items; the experimental
center was evaluated to be a “provincial model experimental
construction center”; etc. In recent years, there are 264 person
times of students won the various subject contests, including 1 international
gold, 2 silvers, and 9 national awards. Therefore, the students’
graduation, degree grants and employment rates have kept at 97%, 95%
and 90% and the students also enjoy a high reputation in the job market.
The college also advocates the establishing of academic atmosphere
to train students with integrity quality. It sets up a series of regulations
and principles to help them form good learning habits; meanwhile,
it organizes colorful campus cultural activities to improve their
integrity qualities. To help the students grow up soundly, the college
contacts the students’ families closely and pursues an educational
policy of involvement by “all staff, in the whole process and
from multi-dimension”.
So far, the college, based on the requirement “scientific development
and standardized administration” by the ministry of education,
is striding forward to forge a well-known independent college of high
learning in Zhejiang province. It covers various disciplines including
economics, law, literature, science, technology, agriculture and management
of distinctive characteristics. It aims to enroll 8000 to 10000 in
the future.
